چکیده

Secondary malignant neoplasms are important late complications after chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy in cancer patients. Therapy‐related malignancies include acute leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), lymphoma, and solid tumors. However, secondary acute lymphoid leukemia or chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is rarely reported.[1] Here, we present a patient with P190BCR‐ABL‐positive CML following S‐1 plus oxaliplatin therapy for gastric adenocarcinoma. The patient has given written informed consent for the use of his medical data.

Chronic myeloid leukemia following colon cancer treatment: A case report and literature review

Background: Solid tumors may occur in 3% of the patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). In this paper, we presented a case of CML following treatment of colon cancer. Case Presentation: A 25 year old man was diagnosed of adenocarcinoma of rectosigmoid treated with fluorouracil-based chemotherapy. Following relapse, he received florouracil, oxaliplatin and irinotecan during the next year. ...

Immunologic characterization of the tumor-specific bcr-abl junction in Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Philadelphia (Ph')-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is highly associated with two forms of chimeric bcr-abl proteins: P190bcr-abl and P210bcr-abl. Whereas P210bcr-abl also occurs in chronic myeloid leukemia, P190bcr-abl is uniquely expressed in Ph'-positive ALL. As a consequence, P190bcr-abl is preeminently a tumor-specific marker in leukemic cells of ALL patients. Because P190bcr-ab...

Detection of abl/bcr Fusion Gene in Patients Affected by Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia by Dual-Colour Interphase Fluorescence in situ Hybridisation

Conventional cytogenetic is the standard technique for detection of Philadelphia (Ph) chromosome in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Evaluation of abelson murine leukemia/breakpoint cluster region (abl/bcr) fusion using dual-colour fluorescence in situ hybridization (D-FISH) is an alternative approach allowing rapid and reliable detection of the disease. We employed the technique of interphase D...

Analysis of Expression Of SIRT1 Gene In Patients With Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Resistant To Imatinib Mesylate

Background: Chronic myeloid leukemia is a clonal myeloproliferative disease which is characterized by bcr/abl translocation. With the emergence of tyrosine kinase inhibitors such as imatinib mesylate, significant improvement has been made in treatment of this disease. However, drug resistance against this medicine is still an obstacle. SIRT1 is a gene with deacetylase activity which has been de...

The long-term outcome and efficacy of PR1/BCR-ABL multipeptides vaccination in chronic myeloid leukemia: results of a 7-year longitudinal investigation

Background: Although Imatinib has revolutionized the treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), not all patients reach complete remission and a considerable proportion of the patients develop resistance to Imatinib. Material and Methods: In an attempt to increase the tail on the survival curve, we conducted a Phase I/II study of PR1/BCR-ABL multipeptides vaccination trial in CML patients wit...
